Mysteries of the great ocean -part 1

4 Mysterious fish around the world

When we think of the mysteries of the sea we usually think of big monsters and strange creatures, but the reality is that there are creatures that wander or wandered in the sea that are mysterious without needing to be gigantic or mythological animals, Today we are going to travel among those mysteries, we will enter mysterious waters we begin.

The Somali grouper, (Epinephelus indistinctus)

The Somali grouper was a species of fish that was caught off the coast of Somalia, Africa, in the western Indian Ocean.

Described as a fish of the Perciformes/Serranoide family that measures about 80 cm long, which was known from a single solitary specimen captured in 1991, in front of puntland, at a depth of 70 to 200 feet, although the original specimen examined was lost, Two other alleged specimens collected by fishermen were found.

Despite several events, it is not considered extinct, and may even be common, But any attempt at study is made difficult by the war that is being fought there and by the problems and dangers that its search represents.

The giant grenadier of the Atlantic

This is a giant deep-sea fish once seen in the Gulf of Mexico of the Atlantic Ocean during a dive by the Deepstar 4000 submersible.

Reported by Joe Thompson (1930 - 2003) from the Deepstar 4000 submersible, during a dive in 1967, According to him, he saw it among several small grenadiers or rat-tailed fish on the seabed, and he identified himself as another grenadier; However, Thompson estimated its length at almost 10 feet (3 meters), for this specimen.

The largest known grenadier, Albatrossia pectoralis, is restricted to the Pacific Ocean and is not recorded growing larger than 2 m. All known Atlantic grenadiers are smaller, perhaps a similar but larger species or a mutation, Although well, the only thing left is for her to be seen again one day, since after this she has not been seen again.

Walker's toadfish,(Batrochoides Walkeri)

It is a fish from the toadfish family, caught only once in the Panamanian Gulf in 1981.

It was distinguished by an elongated body, depressed in front, compressed in the back; head depressed, narrow; very small eyes among other characteristics that we can see in the illustration, having a size of 21 cm.

Because it is only known from an illustration without any physical evidence, It calls into question the identity of the animal, in addition to the fact that no information is known beyond the physical description, leaving everything even more mysterious.

Marianas Trieste Fish

    The most mysterious of cases.

Described as a flat fish, which lives at depths of 10,668 and 10,972 meters, just a foot long and 6 inches wide, that inhabited Challenger Deep, in the Mariana Trench, being described as a sole fish, 30 cm long and 15 cm wide, having round eyes on the top of his head, although apparently he could have been blind.

Because during the diving of the Trieste bathyscaphe, no life was known at such depths, This finding took the scientific community by surprise, Although it has not been seen again, although most remain in doubt as to what this creature really was and there are no illustrations.
