A truly aberrant monster

The legend of the wolf with the head of a donkey.

In all mythologies there are strange beings that are even impossible to describe easily and Asian mythologies are the best example of this, In these mythologies, the Chinese one stands out more, which is full of monsters and interesting beings to study, but there is one being in particular that attracts a lot of attention.

We are talking about the lütoulang, a mysterious creature that seems to be made up of other creatures and which we will analyze below before starting I hope you support this and share for more information as it is, now we will start.

The legend of lütoulang

For thousands of years, Lütoulang has been spoken of in Chinese mythology,(驢頭狼), an animal that is described as a rather large predatory quadruped, with a body similar to that of a huge wolf and thin limbs with strong claws, but its most distinctive feature is its head or snout, which has been persistently compared to the head of a donkey or a horse, Its call is described as similar to the howl of a wolf or the braying of a wild donkey, its size is described as 1 meter high and about 2 meters long, It is 30 centimeters long and has a mane at the nape of the neck.

Its character is described as fierce, bold and without fear of humans, it is said that when there is a shortage of prey, will need livestock or even children to eat, it is said to be usually solitary, but has also been reported to travel in pairs or small herds, and is adapted to run and at the same time be a good swimmer.

Many people in Hubei, Nanyang, Henan and Lushan claimed to have seen this type of animal, and among the evidence we have a supposed specimen of these, murdered in 1970, in a sentry post at the airport of Dangyang, Hubei and in another 1982, an alleged specimen shot dead with a weapon which was about 2 meters long, 1.5 meters high and weighs almost 100 kilograms, it has 4 long, thin legs and a thick, long tail, In addition to his head at that time, there were forty or fifty witnesses and although they called the authorities, unfortunately the body was not preserved.

But the most important question is, what is this animal?

Investigation of the case.

In 1977, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and other units organized an exotic animal scientific expedition team in northwest Hubei to investigate in the Shennongjia area and collected a large amount of materials on the activities of donkey-headed wolves and After 1987, Associate Professor Liu Minzhuang of the Department of Biology, China Eastern Normal University and others visited the Shennongjia area many times to investigate the donkey-headed wolf, y Although these investigations were fruitful, they could not be studied further because no living or dead specimens were obtained.

Regarding this, the Department of Biology of East China Normal University in Shanghai has done research on this, declaring that if this animal exists it is neither a wolf nor a donkey, although some Chinese zoologists believe it may be a prehistoric animal, due to the special geographical and ecological environment of Shennongjia, where the flora and fauna are very rich, there are even extinct species in other regions, although this remains unproven.

Others believe that it could be a giant wolf or hyena, based on the descriptions of its snout and features, and in fact, it is known that there was a record of a huge wolf, the size of a donkey being shot by a Chinese cavalryman in the late 1940s, although well, it still needs to be verified.

Final analysis

In short, it is a very interesting case and one that deserves more study. The last word is yours, although in my opinion, It would not be surprising if there were such an animal living in that place and that remains undiscovered.
